Community Guidelines

StarPL is a place to record your day in your own star, and connect quietly with star friends. Posts only you can see are entirely yours — the operator and automated screening never look into them. This guideline applies to things others can see: public posts, posts visible to star friends, their comments, guestbook notes, and profiles. Posts visible to star friends and private guestbook notes can be reported by those who see them, and the operator's review is always limited to what has been reported.
The 10 items below correspond one-to-one with the report reasons in the report screen. If you see any of these in a place visible to you, please use the Report button on the post, comment, guestbook note, or profile to let us know. The process and available moderation actions are described in Moderation Policy.
1. Sexual content
Posting explicit sexual acts, links leading to sexual images or videos, or promotion of sexual services in public posts is not allowed.
Recording your own life naturally includes stories of love and relationships. If you are unsure where the line falls, use "only me" or "visible to star friends" instead of public.
2. Violence & threats
Threatening to harm a specific person, inciting or glorifying violent acts, and sensational display of gruesome scenes are prohibited.
A threat is judged from the perspective of the person receiving it, even if made in a joking tone. If there is concern of actual harm, the operator may cooperate with law enforcement.
3. Harassment & hate
Repeated mockery, ridicule, or exclusion targeting a specific person, and hate speech based on origin, gender, sexual orientation, disability, religion, nationality, or similar grounds are prohibited.
Criticism and harassment are different. Critiquing ideas is allowed, but repeated acts intended to demean a person are reportable.
4. Spam & advertising
Repeatedly posting the same content, commercial advertising or promotion, links leading to fraud or phishing, and meaningless flooding are prohibited.
Your star is a room for recording, not a public square. Other stars' guestbooks and comments are not advertising space either.
5. Minor safety Zero tolerance
Any content that sexually targets or endangers a minor (anyone under 19, regardless of membership) is subject to zero tolerance. Reports under this reason result in automatic hiding of the content upon receipt, and are reviewed as the highest priority.
If necessary, the operator will cooperate with law enforcement in accordance with applicable law.
6. Self-harm & suicide risk
Posts that encourage or glorify self-harm or suicide, or share specific methods, are prohibited.
This does not ban recording difficult times and recovery — that is one of the things a journal is for. But if you are in crisis right now, please do not face it alone. The suicide-prevention hotline (109, 24h) is here for you.
7. Exposing personal information Rights infringement
Publishing another person's real name, contact details, address, workplace, photos, or other personal information without their consent is prohibited.
Reports under this reason are processed as a rights-infringement takedown request, and the result will be notified to both the requester and the content author under Article 44-2 of the Network Act — see Moderation Policy for detailed procedures.
8. Defamation Rights infringement
Posts that spread false facts to damage another person's reputation, and exposés made with the intent to slander even if factually true, may incur legal liability.
Reports under this reason are also processed as rights-infringement takedown requests. If a situation is difficult to judge or a dispute between parties is anticipated, an interim measure (temporary access restriction) of up to 30 days may be applied.
9. Copyright infringement Rights infringement
Do not upload another person's writings, photos, illustrations, music, or other copyrighted works without permission.
Proper citation with attribution is allowed. Copyright holders may report via this reason or through the procedure for requesting suspension of reproduction and transmission under Article 103 of the Copyright Act — either route is handled through the same channel.
10. Other
Acts that harm the star community but do not fit neatly into any of the above — impersonating other people, exploiting system vulnerabilities, abusing the service through automated tools, and similar conduct — can also be reported under Other.
What happens if I violate these guidelines?
When a report comes in, or when a public post is flagged by automated first-pass screening, a person reviews it directly. If determined to be a violation, content hiding or removal and account warning, temporary suspension, or permanent ban may be applied, depending on severity. Reports are a way to let us know when someone's light has dimmed. Please do not misuse the report function by reporting something maliciously that is not reportable, or repeatedly reporting the same person for retaliation or harassment purposes. If false or malicious reports are repeated, the reporter may also become subject to a warning, temporary suspension, or permanent ban.
